The constraint nobody else manages
A machine is only available if somebody is on it
Every MRP can load a machine. Almost none can hold the second constraint at the same time: whether a person is rostered to run it.
Keystone narrows a work centre’s calendar to the minutes somebody is actually rostered to that machine. Lights-out hours are counted separately, because unattended running is real capacity and counting it with manned hours under-reports the shop.
What comes out is a number a supervisor can act on: the Doosan is open on Thursday and nobody is on it, and here are the minutes lost. Double bookings — one person rostered to two machines in the same half day — are reported and never silently resolved, because which machine they are actually on is the rota writer’s decision, not the software’s.
Full traceability, raw material to despatch
Track any batch of material from goods-in through production to the customer who received it. Every job records the drawing revision it ran to, so a repeat order six months later is not guesswork.
